HI Shawn Cao thanks for the heads-up. I think I do something wrong as it just does not sync in my case. I made a short screencast: https://share.absolutum.net/p9uYG6wA (I blurred the other entries in airtable and just showed the last one. I changed this value from 500'000.- to 10.- to reflect drastic changes. I clicked sync several times and also refreshed the page. However it does not change my data.
It would be appreciated, if you could help me where I have gone wrong.
thanks
Best
Olivier

olivier: Let me give it a test.
My guess is that you need to modify the query to trigger its execution, Columns will not query the data even if it reloads if your query has no changes, you can try move the slider of the Time Range and see if graph updates.
Shawn Cao
Yes, I just tested. Data sync it's good, just currently Columns didn't trigger query execution after data reloads. We should fix it.
Before the fix is deployed, you can try my above suggestion, just change something in metrics/keys/time range to trigger it re-run.
The fix will be deployed soon though. olivier

The fix was deployed, let me know if it works for you, olivier

Thanks for the fix, Shawn Cao:unfortunately it only works part time. Some times it gives an error, see screencast: https://share.absolutum.net/9ZuLBqmB However, never mind, I will use the workaround with the slider movement instead.

Hi Shawn Cao, thanks for that update. really appreciated. I tried to connect an airtable source to columns.ai. Connection worked flawlessly, nice! I could also design the chart. However what did not work, was to update the source. I added new data to airtable, but when I clicked sync in columns.ai, it did not update the data in the chart. Maybe this is also a user error, as it is not intended this way. I made a screencast to show you, what I did: https://share.absolutum.net/bLuZ4lAO . Best Olivier

olivier: Thank you very much for testing it out. I will test the sync function myself and get back to you.
Please note two tips:
- "Sync" won't happen if the connected data has not been loaded for "X" seconds.
- Data changes means records update not schema updates, if you added/removed "column", you will need to connect it again with a new data source.
Shawn Cao
Just tried it out.
I think the function is working, but looks like there is a "client state" issue where it doesn't update the query result after data refreshed due to caching. You will need to manually refresh current page to get visual updated.
I'll file a separate bug to fix this issue.

Shawn Cao: Hi Shawn Cao Thanks for your reply. I think then it could be tip 2 that caused the problem. As I thought that this would be the advantage over uploading a csv file each time something changes. My idea was, that with the airtable connection, I could create somehow a live updated graph of my data. Each time a new row is added in airtable, it would update the columns.ai graph. That would have been great as it would have helped to create a live graph without having to deal with snowflake etc. Best Olivier
Shawn Cao
olivier: tip 2 points to the changes of schema, not the records. The advantage you mentioned is still valid, all live connections have the live update advantage over CSV file upload.
As I mentioned in my follow-up reply, I tested the "sync" function, it's working, I think the issue is with Columns UI at graph creation time, currently I have to refresh the page to pick up the changes, as I said that is something we can improve as a separate fix.
Shawn Cao
olivier: Hi Olivier, we have a bunch of improvement on the data sync. Not sure if you find it better.
Also, make sure you checked out "Schedule", the function where Columns update your live graph in sync with your data, like adding a new row in your Airtable.

The first version is almost done, will make it available for requesters to try.
Surely there will be issues, but please comment back so that we can improve it continuously.

Hi Shawn! Integrating Airtable has great potential for columns ai. with a large userbase.
Airtable being a no code database is very popular amongst users. The ability to chart with airtable linked records/lookup fields will be prefect for columns ai and brings more value when analyzing data due to its relational fields. ( even more powerful than gsheets )
+1
Shawn Cao
Jamie L: Thanks for your comment! We haven't looked into Airtable API yet, as long as they are exposing linked records/calculated fields/lookup fields through its API, we will be all good.
Columns will take all those data for analysis and stay in sync with it.
If you know other people who might be interested, please forward for more votes, we will plan it shortly.
Shawn Cao
Jamie L: Hi Jamie, Columns supports linked records analysis in its Airtable integration. Not sure if you have a chance to check it out.

An increasing interest on Airtable connection.
